As humanity stands on the brink of near-total annihilation, five Cornell University professors from different fields of study debate: whose area of study will help humans stay alive? As the bombs detonate, the meteor plummets, and the temperatures rise, there exists a time capsule which can preserve in full ONE entire discipline of human thought, to be opened by the next generation of sentient life on the planet. Which discipline should be preserved? Come to Klarman Auditorium KG70, at 5 pm November 5 to find out.
The five Cornell professors arguing for the supremacy of their discipline will include: Professors Todd Walter (engineering), Sam Nelson (ILR, acting as devil's advocate), Timothy DeVoogd (psychology), Olga Litvak (history), and from Philosophy, Professor Harold Hodes.

Here is the format of the debate:
1. Each professor will begin with an opening statement, which will last no more than 5 minutes.
2. Afterwards, each participant will present their rebuttal, defending their discipline once more in light of everyone else's opening statements. This will last no more than 2 minutes.
3. Each speaker will then respond to questions prepared by the audience. Questions and responses will last a total of no more than 10 minutes.
4. Last, a vote among the audience members will be held, to determine the winner of the debate. The winner will receive a trophy.
The debate is open to the public and all are welcome.
